I've not seen much mention of this.

Paypal Sandbox is basically a UAT (user acceptance testing) environment for eccomerce sites.

You are able to set up test Paypal accounts and have them fully integrated with your eccomerce solution.

I'm using ZenCart for mine. Paypal Express works - just add in the API credentials from the Sandpit account.

Word of advice. If you want to use the Paypal Pro (UK) module you need to do a little moret than set up Paypal accounts on Sandbox.

You have to go to the PayPal DataFlow UK, live website and go through the process of setting up a live account. You simply press 'Save' when you get to the bit asking for financial details. This creates a 'test' account.

You then have to email PayPal support and ask them to link your 'test' Paypal Pro UK account to your Sandbox account. If you don't do this - you will just get 'vendor account not valid' error messages in your ZenCart Log.

This is not very well documented at all and took me a few hours to work out (I eventually found this Paypal document on how to do it https://www.paypal.de/IntegrationCenter/ic_uk-sandbox.html). I hope this saves someone some time.
