Open business bank account for UK Non residence

HI All,

I have a client from Pakistan who opened her company in UK. I checked with couple of local high street banks and they said that we don't open business bank account for non UK residence. I don't understand one thing. The government has no object to open UK company under non uk residence status. But Banks have objection to open business account. Is any suggestions regarding opening business account? Regards YG

Banks, as you know, aren't government. A policy by the bank directors can be more selective than legal minimums.

The main UK banks have for over a year now adopted a policy to quite simply not open accounts for non-UK nationals. They just won't, it's their commercial decision and nothing at all to do with the Government.

it also might be a case of and help your cause if the person was in the UK themselves, in person rather than trying to do this through a third party. I am sure they would need to be present anyway to sign the paperwork etc if successful.

Maybe it’s a case of you trying to set up meetings with interested banks rather than trying to open the account in their absence. Just a thought?
