D & J BOOKKEEPING SER

hi there i am a qualified certified accounting technican and i have qualification in computerised accounting and i have started up my business it hasnt been going that long as i have just not so long ago just came out of working as an accountant for wolverhampton homes (council)
and it seems like i cant get enough work coming my way is there any bookkeepers or accoutants out there that possibly could give a bit of good advice on where to look and go to get work

what is the best thing to do go around advertising
or just wait for work to come to me from like word of mouth of people i have about 100 clients so far like self employed gas men, electricians, builders, i have done loads of self assestments for them too but dont know if i am charging right prices

i am also thinking of doing an online service doing only bookkeeping though

what do you all think

i have been charging 100 pounds per self assestment i know this is cheap because i know two builders who were charged 800 when they got there amount of inland revenue and then they had to wait 8 weeks for there money of there accountant

    Hi Donna,
Your self assessment fee seems about right to me. My accountant charges me £90 each for mine and my wifes, but perhaps its that price because he deals in all my business and personal affairs too.

Ideally you need to choose what your ideal market is, then work out how to get to that market. For example, if your ideal market is small 1-2 man operations then they wont have time for sales calls or visits but may respond to targetted post.

Choose your market first before choosing how to market yourself.

hi there ozzy thanks for your response

i know some accountants charge out of the roof it is always best to get yourself a private accountant much cheaper

so what kind of business do you have out there yourself?

i am thinking of a 1-2 man operation

i think it is going to be easier that way

    how profitable is your business
