Merging Sites?

I'm currently merging my retail site with my wholesale so that I can keep costs low and allow easier updating of the site.

I currently have www.devilwear.co.uk and www.clothesforless.co.uk but am scrapping the DevilWear design and just going with the CFL design. I'll be changing the logos on the CFL site etc and will be putting an individual price as well as wholesale prices in one place to allow both retail and wholesale customers to shop in the same place.

I just want your views on this really. I have had some very good reviews on the CFL site which is why I have decided to keep that but no-one ever commented on the DevilWear site so I'll just put it in the bin. What are your views on the concept of putting both retail and wholesale prices together? I'm also thinking about doing this when I open my store in a few weeks.

The only problem I can see with it is if your retail customers will be able to see your wholesale prices - I don't think that would be a good idea, as they may feel they're being ripped off if they see the wholesale price compared to the retail price. I wouldn't do it - better to have a trade login where the trade price is visible instead of the retail price.

Then again, retail customers may see that they can get a better deal if they buy 5 so decide to buy one for themselves, give one away as a gift and sel the other three to make profit!

I'm going to give it a go and see what the sales go like. I'll revert back to the old one after a 2-3 week trial if things aren't improving.

Sounds sensible to me. As others have said though, either offer a trade login and discount or remove the obvious differentation between consumers and wholesale buyers by simply make quanity discount arrangements available and more obvious to all (with benefits promoted for becoming a trade member such as credit terms perhaps).
