Members list

[TPS Test]

Just a quick question, I am a member (must be or I wouldn't be able to post here) but when I look in the members list my user name is not shown. The members list shows a total of 306, is this a true total or does it only show fully paid up members?

It fully paid up only. The list also gets google indexed so that alone could be worth the fee.

ps..just looked for the google cache of the members list and it was not there so perhaps its not indexed.

Hi,

Yes, the list is for paid members only as having every UKBF member on there would no doubt encourage some spammy link-building.

I've just done a quick look into letting Google index the members' list. My initial concern was that opening the list up to Google might invite some form of spamming, but as all emails are hidden and handled server-side that shouldn't happen.

Home page URLs aren't hidden though, which should help UKBF paid members' Google rankings as you say.

I'm happy to open up the members' list to Google, but it would only be of benefit to the paid members. Any thoughts?

The members list was originally hidden from being indexed by Google before the Paid Membership was introduced, to stop people just joining to get an inbound link to their website and not contributing. Now that only paid members are shown in the list I think it would be a good idea to allow unrestricted access to the members list for Google et all. As Simon says, that would be worth the subscription fee alone.

So am I now since yesterday evening but this thread is only a platform to discuss and submit one's thoughts. This Member Listing for paid up membership secures a degree of credibility and re assuring serious involvement for a worthy cause ... I am not a paid up as yet.
