As the title suggests, I am looking to change my accountant as I feel that my relationship with them is inexistent.
My current accountant is a high street accounting company with many offices around the UK. I get charged on a monthly basis (as a subscription).

My LTD is a small ecommerce company selling in the UK via Amazon, Ebay. The company is not yet VAT registered but I guess I will have to do it in the next few months / next year. Currently the company is managed via QUickbooks. I am thinking to expand the operations in Europe if its not too difficult to do.

Someone advised me to look for a bookkeeper rather than an accountant, however, I am not sure if this is what I need.

I need someone to take care of the forms I have to fill in for the company once in a while who can also give me general advise to run my business.

My company if functional but I still don't have a clear picture on how to run my business in this aspect and I think I might be making mistakes.

Can anyone advise me how to choose a small accounting company / private accountant / bookkeeper specialised on ecommerce that is also willing to give me some advise from time to time and not cost me an arm and a leg.

My understanding is that my company doesn't require a lot of attention at the moment as the matters are pretty straight-forward.

Thank you for your advise!

You need an accountant.

A bookkeeper deals with recording transactions. Accountants will sometimes offer bookkeeping services but they will have expertise in preparing accounts and tax returns and will undertstand all relevant taxes and be able to ensure you pay no more in tax than is legally required.

My advice when looking for an accountant is to look for a qualified accountant who has experience in dealing with ecommerce businesses. I'm one of a few here who does but you'll find lots of us who do.

Generally you'll find online firms will be able to offer more competitive fees with fewer overheads to have to include in their charges.
