Is Stripe the best option for me?

I'm looking into payment processors and Stripe looks really good. I need to be able to let users subscribe to my website for a monthly fee as well as making one off payments for specific items. From my reading Stripe seems to support both of these features so I'm just wondering if there are any alternatives or whether I should just go for Stripe?

Stripe is great and probably as good as you're going to get at the moment. Are you UK based? Worth keeping an eye on this market as new payment providers keep appearing. Came across a new provider in India I'd never heard of the other day with interfaces into Monzo and Wise.

Depending on the number of monthly subscribers you are going to deal with you may want to consider a more integrated solution for your monthly subscriptions, now or in the future. Client of mine got fed up with manually managing failed monthly payments as well as access to their subscriber content as two separate events. Now they have a plugin that manages the lot from their website, less admin work for them.

Thank you for replying.

Yes I am UK based. I could look into adding it directly to my website rather than using. the hosted option as I am building my website from scratch anyway. I'd have to do some reading into that though to see how much work is involved and whether things like PCI DSS compliance is needed.

GoCardless is another good option. You mentioned you were just starting up, we are an accounting services provider. If you'd like, feel free to reach out and we could have a general discuss as to what you are trying to do. Discussion is free of charge.

I use Stripe exclusively on all my businesses. Stripe is integrated with my accounting software (FreeAgent), so I am able to set up automatic recurring invoices and also send invoices with a payment link.
I also use Stripe to accept payments on my e-commerce website, and finally, when I need to sell something offline, I use a Stripe mobile terminal.

I love Stripe.

To the point that if I was setting up a new website tomorrow, I’d be using Stripe as the processor - I’m not even interested in what the alternatives are.

You may find something that is a fraction of a percentage cheaper but it works, their service is excellent and as above, they will integrate into so many websites - I tend to use Wordpress and Woocommerce and their are multiple plugins that make set up easy.

We have uses Stripe, and found it great.

I have heard of others struggling with it, and you dont want a single point of failure in terms of being able to take payments, so consider something alongside it would be my suggestion.

Hope that helps

What platform do you use? That might affect what gateways you can use?

Nice in PHP? Does it run fast? I'd be interested in seeing a link to it!

    Paul.
No. I'm using Python with Flask framework and PostgreSQL on the backend and React on the frontend (I'm still investigating the frontend so this might change). Speed is certainly something I'm keeping in mind. I'll likely post it here once it is in a usable state.

We've been using Stripe for our SaaS product with a Python Django backend and ReactJS frontend for over two years now, and I can say we're pretty happy with it.

If you're having any issues integrating Stripe with Python, I'd be happy to help :)
