Hi,

As some may already have noticed from previous posts I am going to be starting a recruitment company from my house in the next couple of months.

I have been looking around for information on how this affects my insurance, and what other cover I need to getm but most of the advice I have been given seems rather contradictory.

So can anyone in the know tell me what I need to be doing to cover myself? or point me at a resource that does?

I am going to be talking to my insurance company soon, but I would like to have some information to hand for when I do.

First you need to notify your normal household contents and buildings insurance companies. They usually don't mind but might welcome it because the house won't be left unoccupied.

You then need to consider business insurance and you can usually get a tailor made policy for your type of business. This will include public liability insurance, employer's liability insurance, cover for loss of business, you can add on key man insurance etc. In your case the most important is probably professional indemnity insurance.

A quick google brought up this for example:

Any commercial broker should be able to advise you.
