Our combined commerical insurance is coming up for renewal, can anyone reccomend any companies?
We're currently paying what we deem to be quite a premium for a local broker to do it all for us, and I don't like not doing things myself!

I found Directline to be the most competitive (commercial buildings insurance), and you can get a quote online on their website instead of having to spend ages on the phone giving all your details which i hate!

Hello Guru,

Personally, I have never found it necessary to use an insurance broker at all. I have always been able to find competitive and relevant quotes myself quite easily, but I must say that my insurance needs are quite simple (mostly just landlord/buildings insurance). I would imagine that a broker would be very helpful for someone with more complex requirements!

To me, spending 5 minutes filling in an online quote form is vastly preferable to hauling myself down to a brokers office... Am I unusual? Who else does/doesn't use a broker?

Bry,

You may well be correct on this point, if you have a good understanding of insurance & what you need then the online stuff can go along way at saving your time.

On the other hand i speak with alot of client who have underinsured & only got caught out when there is a claim etc, again like you stated it would depend on the business & i suppose the Landlords contents & buildings is strait forward.

If anyone is intrested i do have some written information on the basis of insurance, such as underinsurance, maintaning records for insurance purposes etc. Give us a shout if anyone requires any info / help.

But as you bry would like to know how many business find using a broker helpfull.
