Importing PC tablets from China

Hello,

I would like to start importing PC tablets from china in small quantities and have no idea about the import fees or legal papers etc?

I was just wondering if someone could make me a checklist of what I need and how I would do it (thats if its not obvious)

When I say small quantities I mean small quantities and could be as little as 3 tablets working out just under 300 GBP, I've found chinese companies offering these types of quantities though..

Ok, have you decided what shipping method's you are going to be using?

When I go to the checkout on the site it states the company and the amount for delivery charges but no method of how?

For example we will say its DHL..

now it all is dependant on how they mark the products.

For example,
If they mark the products at true value i.e £300 you would be charged roughly

£9.95 Admin Fee
20% V.A.T - £60
15% Duty - £45

So you would be looking around an addition £100

However if they mark the items at 50$ each, then your total value would come in at £96 therefore

V.A.T & duty on £96 = £30 + Admin fee

Its different per item, i.e computer accessories have not duty, all items (certain exptions) are liable to duty


usually the courier pays the duty on your behalf and will then send you a bill.

I think online business trading websites helps you. Websites like alibaba.com & tradekey.com helps you to find out proper procedure of importing from china.

if only3pcs, it a little bit difficult to deal directly with chinese company.
my suggestion is that you an buy PC and accessories as well.

They are but you have to make sure they are enlisted as such in the documents.

Why would you suggest a PC and accessories as well? When a company clearly mentions MOQ is 1, then handling 3 pcs should not be a great task.

MOQ is 1? if so, then I suppose they are not manufacture at all, are they?

i dont know if you are import and then retail, if yes, i think accessories is much for profitable. that's why i mentioned accessories.

I haven't imported my own tablet from China yet, but I understand that there's a real danger of some items being seized by customs due to trademark and patent disputes by Western brands, particularly the likes of Apple.

Why Import Directly if Small Quantities?

I have been involved in a few electronics' businesses (acer/sony) if you're looking at small qts, is it not better to get one of the vanilla produced products from someone already doing the hard bit in bulk sea shipping?

why dont you find an importing agent in UK to help you? they should be able to answer and resolve all your concerns within one hour.

Duty (if applicable) and VAT are payable on entry to the UK, to your shipping company (if they are clearing the goods through customs.)

Buying a quantity of three may seriously not be worth it as the economies of scale for shipping can often make small runs prohibitive.

You will also be paying cash up front to China for your goods so you will need to look at transit insurance.
