Check import duty costs, and don't forget your vat on the goods that you'll pay when the ship docks..

Also I'd suggest a trip out to see the quality of the goods prior to buying...

Best of luck & be careful

heres my experience with buying from china,

They make cheap copies of what european companys make but they have no attention to detail and so the product won't be as high quality or last as long so you may have complaints on your hands.

You know what? There do are a lot of clients from worldwide send me inquiry about imitation jewelies. We did that bc of people need that and now we are more standard management than before.

    ...Ahem...getting back on topic..:)

All of the companies listed probably sell through an agent website. I think your money would probably be safe when it comes to the actual transaction, but I wouldn't dive straight in and buy a whole container load. Try to buy a sample of one you feel particularly suits your needs. They could probably crate one up and send it. It might be expensive, initially, but then you could see the quality before committing. No good buying a container load then finding out they are rubbish, eh?

It is very difficult to 'prove' an individual company, which is why companies like Made in China.com are a good idea. They Audit their suppliers in an attempt to verify their bonafides.

When it comes to customs and associated port duties and charges, you have to be careful. If you miss any in your calculations, they will come back and bite you: Import duty, terminal handling charge, Customs clearance charges and any other port charges, in addition to the delivery charges from China to the UK and from the port of arrival to your chosen destination (assuming FOB China).

For customs duty, you will need the Taric classification code for your products.

If you need any further help, please ask.

    Best of luck.

Once a suitable supplier (or suppliers) are found check if the company is properly registered, check its financial info, turnover, history etc. You must be sure that you will be dealing with a financially sound partner.

A trip to China may be a good idea to see their production facilities and get to know the supplier.

Try to avoid any mistakes from the very beginning as litigation in China can be costly and difficult.

There might be frauds all the world so it is the problem of China. If you really plan to import from China, my comments are:

    a. Made-in-china is not a company, it is a online flatform to get to suppliers. it is one way but not the only way to go. there are many good companies there but also bad ones, it is the issue of all internet.
    b. if you know well about your products, you should tell if a company is good or not by communication with them. you need to work out your total cost by the formula facotry cost+shipping cost+customs duty and VAT+UK inland cost.

If you need help, you can PM me. Good luck

    Hi

You could sourch the suppliers through made-in-china, alibaba.com. This two websites is the main source to find supplier. Then you can contact supplier through email or talk with them by trademanager which is the chatting tool on alibaba. it is very convinient. If you need help, I could be your source in china and help you to investigate company. I have been a source for foreign people nearly one year. i help them to source supplier and investigate supplier for my clients. when they come to china. I take them to meet to supplier as a guide and translator.

Any help, please feel free to contact me.

Now in China, many medium and small factories start to attention the quality and also produce products with good quality at reasonable price, that's why Chinese products are so popular all over the world. If you want to import the products from China, you should find right supplier.
I have one old customer from Australia,2007-2008 we cooperated and 2009-2010 I didn't work as I pregnant and later should look after my baby.and now 2011,I do work again and we still contact well, and recently he asked me to buy a kazuma UTV for himself to use.As he trust me based on former experience and believe that I can help him to buy the right goods for right price.
I can't forget his words when we chat on MSN.he said that you have been very good for us,you are very talented in finding things for us.I believe many chinese traders are the same as my attitude to our customers.

    Hi,

If your wondering how much duty and customs will cost it depends on the cost of the product and the price to freight them over to the UK. Luckily the freight is relatively cheap at the minute.

It also depend on the shipping terms you are using with the supplier. Once the goods land in the UK you'll have to pay the VAT and the Duty. VAT is obvious but duty depends on the product. To find that you'd be better looking into H&M customs or businesslink. You need to figure out which tariff code it is first. The supplier should be able to give this to you though, if not just search for taric codes on the businesslink website.

    Hope this helps

I import from China but as others have said it is best to get something without moving parts.

We get kitchen cabinets and doors done there and are on the whole happy but with something like quad bikes you will be liable for 2 years warranty and could be forever fixing broken parts.

For quad bike, most factories in Yongkang,Ningbo,Gunagzhou,Chongqing in China.
If you need my help, just let me know.
Some factories have exported their products and got the CE etc certificate. And for big machinery, they also have the warranty for the product, such as main part for one year, other part for half year, different factory has its standard for its warranty. And you should also consider about the parts exchanged in Uk,whether it's convenient or not.I mean if the part of bike can't work, can it be exchanged in Uk ?
