However it appears that any member, full or not, can offer 'help'. For example the first reply on this thread:-

Hi Graeme - I'm a free member and I can't see anything in that forum. If I click on the link you posted I get an error and don't see it.

Is it possible that the user that posted might have been a paid user in the past but is no longer so?

I've fixed two issues on that forum now. One was that free members couldn't see the forum posts (as @ctrlbrk mentioned - saw that issue before saw this post), and the other is that full members can now exclusively reply as should been the case.
