We have a shipment due to arrive in 4 days.

We are on DDU term, the agent will deal with the custom Clearance,
but we haven't got a deferment account, there will be fees using the agent deferment account?

How to pay duty and VAT without using the agent deferment account?

we are VAT registered, and The agent will provide c88 and E2.

Thanks

Hi, if the shipment is being shipped by sea or air, you can ask the agent for a copy of the E9, which will contain the FAS reference number, along with the HMRC bank details. You can then pay HMRC directly, HOWEVER, please note, these funds need to be paid IMMEDIATELY on receipt of the information, as your cargo will sit pending until you do.

As Mike says - ask for the E9 and pay the taxes due direct to HMRC. It does not take longer (in fact its very quick and funds are usually cleared and the goods released within 2 hours if you pay direct using faster payment) but you MUST use the correct FAS reference and as Mike says pay immediately or you may incur delays and storage charges. Although your courrier will no doubt be happy to pay on your behalf they will charge you for the pleasure of so doing! A cost you can avoid if you pay direct - just tell your courier/clearance agent that's what you want to to.
