This is a dumb noob question.

If I want to work out the return on capital from statutory accounts, what do I do?

    I think I do this:
    1. Called up capital + share premium account = total capital
    2. shareholders funds this year - shareholders funds last year = profit for this year
    3. profit for this year / total capital = ROI
    Is this right? Thanks

As above it's unlikely you'll have sufficient information from the accounts at Companies House unless filing exemptions dont apply to the company you are looking at or the accountants / directors havent bothered to prepare abbreviated accounts and just submitted full accounts which does sometimes happen.
