How can you distinguish a wholesaler?

Hi everyone,
I have read passage referred to "Manufacturer -> Distributor -> Dealer -> Retailer" several day before and it told me that all seller except retailer can be called wholesaler,but I'm still confused about "wholesaler",can anyone show me the exact meaning?

I suppose that manufacturer and distributor as wholesalers for the critical point of wholesale is low price.If the products have passed for three or more level,I think the price will not be competitive.Hence,it doesn't matter who is the wholesaler if he who can offer you products of unbeatable price.

There is no problem for manufacturers, Distributor and dealers to sell products on wholesale. While retailers buy from these and then sell after a little profit margin. So he can not be a wholesaler. There is a difference between selling in bulk and selling in wholesale.
