Hi, I'm Gary. I'm a Sole Trader Electrician.

I stumbled across this forum while researching government contracts (a bit optimistic for my business at present) and ended up opening a massive stack of tabs because there were too many interesting threads to read at once.

I took the plunge August last year to full time self employment and have found whilst I know my trade, I have a lot to learn in the business world and I feel this forum could be a great place to help me along.

In time I'm hoping I'll be able to gain confidence and give help back as I find my way.

Coming from someone who as a teenager did a little bit of labouring cash in hand for a few months, and used to get ripped apart by the sparks on site (and the brickies, the chippies, everyone). I got over it eventually with counselling and support ??.

Yes I had them all, fetching the bucket of elbow grease...popping to the trades desk for sky hooks, you name it.

There's nothing like tradie wit. Personal favourite I've seen is a left handed right angle trunking bend.
No matter what gets brought to you, you turn the bend over and tell them it's wrong. ?

Yes, I've got accounting software which is making my life easier. I've got some job management as well as there's only so many pages in a notebook to keep track of everything!

That's a good start. My husband is a tradesman and the words 'have you seen my little book' used to induce terror!
