Good morning from a hopeful guest house/b&b owner

I have joined this forum with the hope of learning more about running a Guest House/B&B.

We are going to view a few whilst on holiday next week so hope to come home more educated than we went.

I am currently reading, researching, studying as much as I can and came across this forum which I have joined in the hope to hear about others in the same business both good and bad

We have a wonderful advisor on board who will check out absolutely everything about any business we are interested in including additional funding. But you cannot beat 1st hand experiences from others who have succeeded and failed

I welcome any information you wish to share with me

That's great you replied so quickly... I will e mail you... I am still in research and viewing stage (have been for 6 years) but have good experience in doing the job... all facets...housekeeping...reception duties... maintenance skills, cooking and good people skills. Just need the right place to combine all my experience and skills to make them benefit me 100%. Up to now, my employers have been the beneficiaries... not meant to sound cynical because i have had some good employers but it's "time" for me to benefit from myself and my efforts.

we have absolutely zero experience in the industry... however I did run a small B&B in N. London 40yrs ago for about a year.. I went into it purely to put a roof over our heads and a small salary as recently married with a young baby I was still living at home and it certainly was not working however I absolutely loved it. it definitely wasn't the type of establishment we are looking for now as most rooms were contractors and vacant rooms were let by the hour if you get my meaning.. it was N London after all... lol.. plus I provided evening meals which I won't be doing again..
