Getting ridiculous...

The amount of spam and self-promotion is now beyond the point of frustration.

I use the General Business Forum mainly, but have noticed the number of self-promoting posters (all newbies or there of) gradually increasing.

The worst part is when these so called 'members' post a thread and continuously respond to it.

What can be done and what is being done to crack down on this?

I think there is the option to 'ignore' but I haven't used this so don't know if it's effective. I just scan the posts and read those that interest me, I feel I can help with or have time to read.

Can't say I've noticed a real problem but I don't spend as much time on the forum as I used to.

Hi Darren,

You're right, there's always people self-promoting on here - and as a moderator I see tons of it!

One of the things that really helps us is for members to report any posts that they think are spam. We can then put measures in place to stop any further posts by that person.

The 'Report Post' button (looks like a road sign with an exclamation mark) will alert the moderators to the post, which can then be removed.

Apart from that, hope you're enjoying the forums!

Cheers,
Darren Falkingham
