Getting A Childrens Book Published?

Hi everyone,

Just a quick question really. My dad wrote a childrens book about 3 years or so ago called "The Stinkey's Search For Water" (lol) It's aimed at the 5-12 year sort of age group. Him and 3 of his friends published it themselves and sold it in local shops in our home town. It was very poorly printed and the covers etc looked cheap and tacky, so he would love to be able to get it published professionaly this time without doing it himself. Does anyone have any advice on how he can go about doing this? He's not very technical minded so i'd have to pretty much arrange it all for him, but I hate to see the book sat in the corner gathering dust when it should be on the market! He would be willing to have the name changed and make any changes that might bring it up to date etc.

Any help or idea's would be great on this, thanks! :smile:

I can't help with this request I'm afraid but just imagine if the re-launch is successful how much those originals will be worth....

I'm also wanting to get a book published.... two things that have been suggested to me were www.lulu.com (a self publishing company, which I am looking into), and.... contact Amber here on the forums.

Oh, and when he's all sorted with that, let me know how he got on... my dad has written some kids books that he wants publishing, aimed at 3 - 5 year olds.

I have no idea where to start to help him out so far though so i'm hoping to get pointed in the right direction....
