Hi. I sell online in the UK and would like to expand out into Germany. My goods will be stored there so I will need to register for German VAT.

My question is how do I register myself. I have tried phoning a few numbers on Finanzamt hannover Nord but no answer and have tried emailing.

Also is it true I will have to file my tax every month? My threshold is going to be under 100000euros.

If anyone has had experience with this and can point me to the right direction it will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
Ben

Here are a couple of very useful sites to help you navigate around the system in Germany. You can register as a small company (sole trader) which is relatively easy to do. A lot of sounds complicated than it is but once you're up and running you will have no problems.

A word of advice in calling Hannover, maybe try a smaller regional Finazamt :)
