Functional Areas of the Business

Can any one tell me how the functional areas of a business contributes towards achievement of the business objectives.

the functional areas are as you may already know:

- marketing
- administration/IT
- production/operations
- human resources
- finance and accounts
- customers services
- research and developments

i wanna know how these areas of a business help to achieve the business' objectives

HR contributes a great deal to business objectives. If staff are not happy they will be de-motivated, not committed and employee relations will be poor (lots of grievances and discplinaries). This will cause high absence rates and ultimately turnover which are a huge cost to a business.

If there are good HR practices in place with managers managing staff well then productivity is good (because staff are motivated and committed) which ultimately affects the bottom line.
