Can anyone recommend a way I can forward my email messages to my mobile as SMSs. Reason I ask is I'm going abroad in a week and I'd like to keep up to date on my orders but vodafone charge a fair wack for mobile internet abroad. Other staff will process the orders, but I'm a bit addicted to seeing what people are ordering. :D

Cheers

Does your phone not have WiFi? Also does the place you are staying?

That would be a cheaper option :)

My phone has wifi but the Hotel doesn't unfortunately. :(

You could use an email to text service. I use Clickatell with an API but you can use it via email.

Hmm, I'm sure there used to be lots of these services around. Vodafone aparently used to have it but retired it a while back.

Not sure it will be much help forwarding e-mails to text messages. SMS messages are limited to 160 characters while e-mails usually tend to be a lot longer than that.

You'll probably be able to find an unsecured wi-fi hotspot somewhere (caffe or something) wherever you're going, and provided you're using secure imap/pop and smtp security won't be an issue either.

I'll have a look at TXTLocal - thanks!

If that doesn't work out I think as wykthorr suggested, I might be able to find a wifi hotspot somewhere.

I have a feeling I'm just going to have to enjoy my holiday instead of checking my emails. Such is life!
