What do you need doing?

What is your budget?

We say it time and time again but we can't make recommendations not knowing what is needed...

Is it a web designer needed (front end markup and CSS on a website), or is it graphic design needed (artwork, graphics or illustrations), is it in fact a developer needed - is it a Wordpress site, Joomla site, Magento site, bespoke site etc etc.

Yep - when people are offering 10 page wordpress sites for £60, what can you do!

You and I know the quality will be dismal and the SEO even worse,.. but the buyer will just see a pretty template design, and the "pretty" element will keep them smiling for a long time while they watch the phone not ringing!! LOL.

If someone paying £60 for a 10 page wordpress website... why would the person doing this be doing SEO too?!

Its fair play... £60 a day is a good personal income for people in the UK, and its really a big deal in growing economies like India, Brazil and the like... do a couple in a day, you are laughing...

You have a powerful open source CMS off the shelf, the template will largely be off the shelf (it wont be custom design - but maybe edited a bit) and all you doing effectively is being paid for your time, rather than skill!

People use freelance websites to get a bargain for a website they aren't caring about sale sale sale, and people go to pricey agencies when sales count... Of course anyone doing the former, would love money to role in, just don't want to put in the effort or the cash, so it doesn't happen. Rarely do serious businesspeople use freelance websites... its a large discredit to genuine freelancers; they are absolutely full of people with a laptop and internet promising the earth, most with no real skills other than able to use Google.

The main difference is you know Photoshop and Dreamweaver are illegal unlicensed copies, that Windows is a cracked copy or the macbook is a clone, that the templates used require a link back/copyright notice that has been removed, that images are grabbed from Google Images without a care to the copyright owner, and if any constructive feedback is given, the persons standard of English deteriorates 1631% in 2 minutes before then ignoring your messages and runs with the money without a refund. Basically, that £60 can run into thousands when Getty gets hold of you...

When on freelancer websites you must stay proud of your price (like in any competitive position) just because loads of people are bidding really low, doesn't mean you shouldn't bid for the work. If you have a smashing portfolio with a brilliant feedback rating, these wishy-washy and newbie freelancers wont stand a chance, budget permitting of course! This said, when I used freelancer last, hundreds of newbie are going in with really high 300% bids just testing the water....
