i am looking to export various electronics to bangladesh (non eu) from the uk. these will be used and new goods ranging from tv's to mobile phones. i wish to mainly understand VAT!
-can i claim VAT back for new and used items? even if in some cases i cannot provide proof of purchase as could be buying from second hand shops, charities and donations - or even ebay.
-how do i actually claim VAT back? i am new to this so need to know everything. say for example i buy and then sell via parcel or courier. what then? how do i approach hmrc to claim my 20% vat back?
-i assume i need to be vat registered?
-how do i prove what i am selling also and for how much? for example; i get a phone call for 10 mobile phones which i send. do i just create a copy of the invoice and keep to show hmrc? i will have no face to face contact with the buyer so cannot obtain signature - will that be a problem?
any advice is appreciated.
