thanks for the messages on email databases and have been doing some research

wow so many different issues and prices etc

1) People selling email databases on ebay for not much money - are they up to date i ask - why so cheap for £ 25.00 for 33,000 records
2) Someone offered to sell me 1000 email addresses for £ 150 - deadline data i think - not a bad price i think but not sure
3) email databases - has the business opted out of receiving emails from other companies
4) Spam and such like
5) Dot Mailer - £ 99 for a licence to send out emails if under 500 emails or £ 295 for larger licence
6) I did once send out a mail shot via email and got loads of bounce backs and some ISP's blocked my email address cos of them thinking it was spam

why is this such a mine field

to be honest i think managing email campaigns in house can be a pain in the back side - i will do your broadcast free after initial set up fee of £200 - all i ask of you is to buy the data from me... we will manage the campaign for you - let me know and i will work out a full quote for you - John B

Thanks for the recommendation guys!

It is a minefield probably due to the level of data accuracy & quality.

I will not bad mouth any data supplier but the quality is usually reflected in the price which you have been quoted - be careful is my advice as some of the databases may be well out of date and not give you a good ROI.

If you do want an up to date opt-in email list segmented by industry and/or location, send us a pm or email [email protected]. Of course this is the same for any questions, advice or help - one of the team is usually checking our emails throughout the day/night! :D

Prices are around the 15p per record as a guide.

Many thanks

target ur market

Hi - Definition Audio,

I ran a b2b e-mail marketing company for 2 years and we specialised in managing corporate e-mail campaigns from design through to delivery and tracking results.

We actually had to close the business down simply because of the many cheap e-mail broadcasting software companies out there that allow you to customise templates, send and track the results yourself... So I agree it is not a pain doing it yourself.

I now work as a freelance E-mail marketing specialist and go into companies to advise them on their e-mail marketing opportunities.

I offer a free 1 hour no obligation consultation and can inform you on the best route to take to achieve your goals for the budget you have.

I also own a business database of 1 million key decision makers and the number of fields and quality of the data is exceptional. I actually provide this data to clients for free sometimes or can create you a database to meet your budget.

I am currently working with InkJet and they are using the database for free but then they are paying me a very good tempory salery :)

I wouldnt mind discussing with you your options and guiding you through this minefield and giving you a quote on data tailored specifically for you.

I always find that by being helpfull even if I make little or no money now, when you have a larger budget you may return

Feel free to contact me.

Regards

Ian Comper

Hi,
Just a couple of points to consider before spending money on an email data list:
1. Will your ISP allow you to send out large numbers of emails? I would check this as we have a lot of people contacting us saying their email has been blocked by their ISP for sending out more than 500 emails.
2. If you are not going to use your ISP and are considering an ESP (email service provider) I would check that the provider will allow you to use purchased or rented data. A lot of ESP's will not allow it as they want to protect their IP's against potentially bad and harmful data.

I hope this information helps.

Hi
I have read though some threads on email databases and looks as if there are loads of companies that do them - i am looking for recommendations as i dont want to spend a fortune - so if anyone knows the costs per quantity that would be great
I need category specific i.e shopfitters, architects, interior designers etc

many thanks

Let me know if you get any joy with this. I have also been looking but havent been at all confident with those i have spoken to.

Hi Elliot

Email Marketing and databases is a mine field i have been looking at different issues for weeks. I purchased a list off Deadline Data recently which was OK.
You can purchase a more specific list off them they charge 15p -20p per email for cleansed data in specific fields that you require.
Previously i bought a cheap database off ebay which was a waste of money it had nothing specific to what i needed and i got a few bounce backs.
Its ok buying a database but what do you do with it after mmm you can use someone like mailchimp to send it out NOT if you read the small print on what email addresses you can use you cant use a database you have bought they have to be email addresses you have aquired yourself via your own means as they dont want their isp been blacklisted. Ok lets have a look at another one Dotmailer who want £99 for a licence to send out upto 500 emails per month + cost per email or £295 for another licence to send out more per month + cost per email. All this is down to if you send loads of emails out and get a lot of bounce backs or it is seen as spam your ISP gets blocked or blacklisted.
The right and correct way if money is no object is to use a email marketing company who have the rights to send bulk emails and design you a flyer / newsletter but this of course does cost money and you still aren't guranteed to generate any more business.
So be careful what email database you buy it maybe months or even years out of date - Deadline Data he assures me is quite upto date - dont buy a cheap database off ebay it could be out of date. To be honest i find with some of these email databases dont seem to have a vast amount of companies in certain sectors i.e. companies missing off them
Also be aware of atomic email hunter - used this once and got loads of bounce backs and even a nasty letter

Hope this helps
