Editorials in Magazines

Does anyone have suggestions or experience with magazine editorials? My website needs to be promoted and there is definately an opprotunity in magazines for me to gain more hits & business but I have no idea where to begin. Help would be much appreciated. My website is called Bespoke-England. I sell high-end footwear mainly.

A few years ago my wife hired a PR lady on a 1 day a month basis for a fixed fee, she had a few articles published that way.

All in all a fairly positive experience - so ask around and see if you can find someone to work promoting you for a fixed time every month.

Your price point indicates that you need coverage in high end magazines, do you know which titles cover your target market?

Some of the bigger Sunday Mag's such as Sunday Times, would be one.

I think Tatler would be another outlet, but I'm unsure of others, I would suspect that you would know which mag's would be read by your customers.

What kind of offers can you make to the magazines to encourage them to provide editorial?

Your challenge resonates with us! At url removed we now enjoy a lot of editorial content of various kinds, but a year ago we faced exactly the same position as yourself.

You can, of course, hire a PR person, and they will usually be excellent at this kind of thing. We didnt go that route, but began to make ourselves very visible in the arena that we needed to be noticed in. Specialist magazine, lifestyle online communities relevant to our product. In addition, we actually purchased some advertising space on these sites, and sponsored some events. Gradually the name started to seep into the kind of areas we needed, and then it becomes much easier to gain editorial content about your business, its products and its activities.
