The DTIs Investigating an Innovative Idea grant, which was originally scheduled to expire in March 2005, is now being continued.
The news is that the grant will now be kept open beyond March 2005. The SBS currently handles around 40 to 50 applications a month of which 5 out of 6 are approved. The SBS have spent around £2m per year on this grant which I have been advised is considered small enough to keep going.
This is a particularly useful grant for start-up businesses as the grant covers 75% of the costs of exploring the viability of a new business idea, product or service.
If anyone requires the guidance notes for this grant please send me a private message.
