I have a cunning way of doing that

I say i am sending a courier for the money

I get on my motorbike in leathers and turn up with a clipboard

I either get a cheque or a rubbish excuse (i don't let on i am me), if an excuse i put court papers in and detail what they said before i sent the courier and then what they told the "courier" which is usually something like "we told them not to send someone over as there is no signatory in today or the like", they then usually pay straight up as they realise they look like twonks

I have even had conversations with staff at clients who have actually met me in a suit who didnt realise who the courier was - maybe helped as I always used to commute by motorbike so it and my clothing had the right "roadgrime" look

I used to give it to Big Tom to take care of things but he went all posh did a uni degree . Is now a consultant to the IT industry and has totally ignored his criminal past ,jail and all the other smoke that went on :)

I dont want any trouble coming back to me over dodgy debt collecting these days ?

Until recently I was a licenced debt collecter, by default rather than desire (It was just a box to tick on the application for a Consumer Credit Licence).

I did occasional jobs just for fun - the easy stuff. Always turned up in person and asked to speak to the main person.

One of my noteable successes was where the main man wasn't in (he actually wasn't, I could see his office). So I told the receptionist it was about the payments on his computer.

Next day I got a nervous call from the lender/creditor.

    'What did you do?'

    I told her. She laughed.

'he rang, apologised and paid in full' - fter ignoring multiple calls & letters.

I'm not a little chap - my guess is that the receptionist told him about this big bloke, who had come demanding payment. He'd put 2 & 2 together and made 6.
