It appears the UK Gov has decided Covid is no longer of any huge concern, probably helped with the event happening In Ukraine distracting people. They have now decided to stop the Royal Mail contract on collecting daily Covid tests over the weekend from designated post boxes, something which has been taking place for about the last 1 3/4 years since the first out breaks.

Only time will tell if this is a sensible move or not, but I expect many are not following even regular handwashing procedures, let alone testing themselves in case it alters their income.

We - multiple friends at a large party - were talking last weekend about the sudden disappearance of Covid concern, this despite knowing lots of people who've experienced their first infection, albeit of a very mild nature. No one seems to care any more?
In contrast we all agreed that the edge has been taken off of our former routines, Friday night at the pub, shopping on Sundays, meals out etc., Not that we are concerned about Covid, more of a can't be bothered. Things just aren't quite the same again yet.

In March I visited both Austria and Italy and was astonished at how rigorous they were with Covid rules Almost every restaurant, shop and bar required proof of vaxination and compliant marks were worn everywhere - I'm assuming the broader rule was 'if you are exempt, stay at home'

I understand the rules were dropped on 1st April, it would be interesting to see how things have changed.

Personally my view is that we have to learn to live with it - the prevalence and relative insignificance of Omicron has helped that process

Personally I have always thought even the initial Covid reaction and restrictions were overboard, but I am just stating my viewpoint, and agree, we need to learn to live with it.

Omicron coming along has been a true stroke of luck, it has helped reduce previous more harmful outbreaks, only a matter of time before something much worse hits us, it’s not if but simply when.

The loss in various freedoms around the world, and the ease people gave them up will have far reaching consequences IMO, time will tell.
