Hi all,

We do self drive sports car hire, and our primary area is the southwest, south coast, west country and south wales - a big area.

Typing sports or super car hire, or related terms, into google along with any mention of areas we're targetting like devon, cornwall, south west, etc and we come up top, or very close to top, in the natural rankings with either our main site or one of our county related mini-sites.

Now ive been wondering about doing google ads, and struggling to see the point if we do well with our area related searches. We cant service nationwide. Several people have said "you should do it" but i'm yet to be convinced.....

Now i believe that for those who know what they want, i.e. sports car hire in one of our areas, they will find us through our good natural rankings. What i believe we need to do is make everyone else who doesnt know they can hire a sports car aware they can. Obviously these people aren't going to search google because they dont know this kind of thing exists. My point is that i dont think google adwords will help this in any way, as all it will do is assist those already searching...? Correct me if i'm wrong of course!

If we need to be inspiring new people, and making people realise we're here and what they can do with a car, no form of google adwords campaign will solve this as they aren't searching in the first place......????

If you are often using the internet to search for your company on a PC you will come up higher in the organic searches...use a PC for the first time and you will get a very different result.

When considering Google Ads it's like any other advertising or marketing tactic. How does it fit into your overall marketing plan. Is it the best way to reach your target audience. Do you want to use it to promote a particular offer or service or to reach a target audience?

Go back to your marketing plan and review the use of Google Ads on this basis, rather than whether you company comes up highly on an organic search on your PC.

Lots of brands use online advertising as well as gaining editorial/organic listing/online content, just as the do offline line. It's not an either/or situation.
