Hi

Over the last few days I've been working on a clothing wholesale site. I'm nearly finished and hope it'll go live very shortly. I have most pages finished but need to finish off about 3 pages, sort the search facility out (which I may just make into a newsletter form and then hopefully I'm done. The site is at www.clothesforless.co.uk so please take a visit and let me know what you think.

The site itself looks quite smart. My immediate thoughts are:

1) Dump the fancy counter - it doesn't help the professional image you are trying to portray

2) Your homepage states "CFL are the UK's Favourite Clothing Wholesaler" - how can you be if you've only just started up? Also, anyone who already buys from wholesalers will know it's not true and may not believe anything else you have to say either.

3) None of the images enlarge - customers will want to see detailed images before they buy anything.

4) Your testimonials sound very much like eBay feedback, and I suspect it is. That may well put serious retailers off.

5) The shopping cart has a totally different look to the rest of the site. You're using Mal's E-Commerce and that's very easy to customise in terms of colours and look so that it blends in with the rest of the site.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for that.

The "counter" is actually a clock. when I asked for feedback on another site a few people stated they liked to have a clock on there so I put one on. It also fills the space nicely.

The enlargement of pictures is something I have planned and yes, the feedback is off Ebay. As I haven't received any orders from the site yet, I don't have any feedback so it's either putthe Ebay feedback on until I receive proper feedback or make it up!

The cart is something I also have on my agenda.

So from your feedback, I'll change the UK's favourite Wholesaler part to something like the UK's Premier Wholesaler and I'll see what I can do in terms of feedback.

Thanks

Hi!

I saw both your websites...talking about clothesforless, here ythere are some suggestions:

1 - I would add more detailed description to your items: what are made of, measures (for accessories), and so on...

2 - I would improve the quality of the picts: customers in internet buy above all with thier eyes!

3 - Once I selected a pair of trousers I couldn't view the sizes I was going to get....why?

Hope it helps.

PS: we're selling our Italian designer accessories at great prices to wholesalers and resellers too...just give me a shout if you're interested in receiving quotations or informations about prices for resellers or bulk orders!

Well, as you can see, my original post was made in January. I haven't had too much time to action all of the suggestions as there's been too many orders :) I made more in one month on the wholesale site than I did in my entire year on the retail site. So thanks for your input. I'm shortly going to be asking family members to help out with small amounts of work including book-keeping and the likes so I have time to focus on improving the service and the site.
It's proven to be popular the way it is, but what will increase sales? I don't think small things like removing the clock will increase sales, but what will?

Well, some ideas are:

1. Adding a newsletter with special offers
2. Paying for some ads (ppc, banners, etc.)
3. Doing some offline marketing

Also, I believe that some improvents on the website can actually help to increase sales. I don't like the clock as well but that won't really affect the sales. However, I would definitely prefer a simple text clock. Also, I would definitely work with the images of the products. They seems blurred and not very well designed (the transparency is not good). This applies to the buttons as well.

Additionally, I think you could add a paragraph explaining more about your company (not just a bullet list).

Finally, add your phone and email at a prominent place on the header of the website. The customers like to see that. It makes them more confident to order from your website. Also, consider adding live help if you can support it.

take care,

Thanks for your input. Without seeming ungrateful, you obviously haven't looked at the site in any detail.

There's already a newsletter which sits prominately on the left hand side of each page. You would simply enter your email address and it's added to our mailing list.
More details about the company can be found by pressing the "more..." link after the short paragraph you mentioned. The paragraph is a taster and if anyone wants to know more then that's what the more link is for.

Other than that, yes the photo's will be re-done as soon as I get the chance. I spend a small amount on Adwords and am going to weigh up whether it's paying off shortly. All of the hits I receive at the moment don't cost me a thing (apart from a few Google Adword hits) because there's a few websites out there that pay their members for access to their large databases of wholesalers and dropshippers. Therefore they include my details for free. So I receive around 200 hits every day just from these sorts of sites for free! I've just been working out my advertising budget and will start to advertise elsewhere or pay for more exposure on those wholesale directories.

Thanks for your input.

My mistake. I did see the newsletter but forgot to explain in detail that I was talking for a customer-base newsletter with special offers. For example if some people have ordered 100+ you should do a special promotion for them. In the past we have done some cross-sale newsletter campaigns and found them very effective. Of course the standard newsletter for the visitors is a must.

For the contact details I visited the contact us page. What I am saying is that having the contact details on the header or footer helps to gain visitor trust faster. You need to invest in those very first seconds that the visitor spends when they first some onto your website. If you manage to keep them on the you have more chances of getting to the sale.

Sorry, my mistake, there it is in accessories.

I like your site actually. I think your proposition stands out and if the person needs more info it's there.

Better feedback would be good, but I can see your market is the ebay seller so the feedback probably does work in those terms.

The menus are consistant and very clear. As always, it would be better if visited links coloured up.

I'm not sure why you have repeated the menu at the top of the page. It is a little confusing because it makes you wonder if there is another section you haven't seen.

Otherwise I like it much better than Devilwear where I see you haven't acted on any of the suggestions made in this forum. ;)
