Cheapest most reliable international shipping courier service?

Hey guys!

I am in the process of starting up a subscription box service and seem to be having problems finding a cheap but reliable courier service that will ship our box's out internationally.

I've had a look at Royal Mail (which has been most recommended to me by friends) yet they are charging £17.20 per box, which would slash into our profits.

Have any of you used any courier services that you can recommend to be both cheap and reliable on international shipping?

Well cheap to me is anything less than £17.20 a parcel, parcel being no more than 1kg, to be sent from the UK to USA.
