Chamber of Commerce - worth being a part of?

Hello all

We are having a visit from a chamber of commerce rep. tomorrow to discuss potential membership. As we're a partnership, with a work force of 2, we qualify for the cheapest band of membership - roughly £150 for the year.

Is anyone else a member of the chamber of commerce - are the benefits great? I'll find out tomorrow i guess, but its nice to hear what other people think on the matter. I'm really interested in the networking opportunities that it provides - to really get our name out there in the local Berkshire market.

Thanks a lot

I am a member of the Northants Chamber of Commerce and already I have made back the membership fee by well over 1,000 times over!
I attend every single networking event they run, and every event I attend earns me at least one new client. It also earned me my biggest deal, with the Chamber & BusinessLink now offering company formations through their website in partnership with Quick Formations.
Networking is just a small benefit of the chamber, you also get a number of other benefits ranging from deals on things like insurance and more. You also benefit with cash for varies services - my company has also had more than 2 grand in cash from the Chamber for varies bits and pieces.

Good stuff Ozzy - thats encouraging news to hear! That would make our day - 1 concrete lead per event.

Our meeting was cancelled so we'll be signing up Thursday now to the thames valley chamber of commerce. Glad to hear that its really working for you using your local organisation.

We're thinking about joining the Federation of Small Businesses too. They have benefits as well, and offer some networking events.
