CE markings

Does anyone know if they are allowed to put the CE sticker on their product, without filling in any application form (sent off to brussels)?

My product complies 100% with their regulations depicted in the PDF file I bought from them for about 100 quid.

Here is something, that just baffles me with it's complex language -

Does the answer lie in there?

Best regards,

My ,very limited, understanding is that most CE marks are self certifying, that is you can make the decision to CE mark it yourself.

But, if there's a problem, and you just CE marked it, you're exposed to litigation, if however you used a test house and have plenty of documentary evidence that you did the right stuff, you're much less exposed.

And the CE documentation is very difficult/impossible to understand.

I agree, the point is you have to have evidence of compliance if challenged by anybody (e.g. Trading Standards), and you'd also want to show that you took all reasonable steps if you were threatened with a product liability suit for example.

I suggest you perhaps phone BSI or your local Trading Standards Office for more info.
