If You are going to use it for business then I would say use a professional Web Designer.
Your website will be the first thing your customers see and it needs to look the part! It is your showroom to the world you have to remember that.
When employing a company to design and build your website remember that what you will end up with is an investment in your future and not some expense that you just happen to have right now.

Are you selling online or are you potentially using it for information?

On the Wix side of things - I have been watching them on Facebook recently and they are posting that Mr or Mrs X loves Wix when infact they have never used it or even heard of it. Very naughty indeed...

Don't mean to market my own services but I am a web designer for small businesses and it seems like you need either a brochure website or a web shop which can sell your products online.
At the moment, I'm offering seriously low prices on all my packages (to officially introduce my business). This offer won't last long, especially as these are set at fixed rates with no extra hidden charges so I'd definitely recommend you to take a look. Your budget won't be happier elsewhere :)

If you would like to browse my web design packages, I will gladly send you a private message with my company URL.

Think you might just get a telling off for plying your wares like that :)

Perhaps look into setting up a Wordpress website? They're extremely easy to use and very 'newbie' friendly.

You are quite right, Wordpress is a great platform we use this platform for many of our clients.
What I will say is buy the .co.uk name and the .com name so your site doesnt look like its just another wordpress site.

Great CMS facilities that are easy to use and fantastic plugins, especially the simper Fi SEO free plugin.

I am with Phil, Would definately be worth looking at building a wordpress site at first. Once things are moving though a professionally built site will give a better image to your potential customers. The thing that I find with moonfruit is you are very limited on space unless you want to upgrade to a paid package, and also the sites and admin run slow on older systems.

This bit was relevant to the thread. The rest is difficult not to see as self promotional (there are better areas to post this kind of thing) :)

As someone in the know - and to keep this on-topic, what do you think are the top 3 things to think about when considering a website for your business? Or maybe the 3 things to avoid!?

Thanks,

Yiuwin
