    Hi Folks,
Would you all like to be able to use Avatars on this forum? Basically an image that you can have next to your name when making posts. THis can be your company logo, a picture or anything you want.

These are currently disabled because it can be abused by some people (dodgey images) but I'm willing to enable it if there is enough support. Obviously if it gets too much abuse it will be removed again (sorry!)

    Anyway, let me know.

I'm a member of other forums where stringent conditions and guidelines are attached to the use of avatars and they're deleted if they're inappropriate. It does mean more work for the moderators, though.

I don't like avatars very much. They often result in too many flashing and blinking things. They can be distracting and annoying, and it gets very repetitive to see the same images over and over again. Might they also slow page loading times? I'm not sure.

I voted no. People can express their personalities in their postings without the need for avatars. That said, they are very popular and most places allow them. And of course, you could prohibit the use of animated ones.

I would tend to agree that flashy moving ones are an annoyance, so yes those ones would be disallowed.
As this is a business forum I was hoping the thought of using them for corporate logo's and similar would be well received.

Well its a two horse race, and a close one at that :)

On a similar subject, you might also want to consider whether or not to allow images in people's signatures.

I think this is a great forum. It would be a shame to spoil it. Just my opinion. I'm a newbie here so I won't say any more on the subject - well, not for a while anyway. :D
