Looking to generate some supplementary income through using our site for exposure to affiliates who pay for either clicks and /or commission on sales they make. Previously we included vouchers from Naked Wines in our outgoing parcels but the results were modest. Would appreciate general comments and answers to these specific questions.

Should the affiliate space be ........

1. on the home page only
2. after they have checked out a purchase of our products?
3. a pop up or link in the header or the footer on selected pages

What would be the minimum of visitors to the site that would be considered by an affiliate?
Would links to "adult" fun products have a negative/positive impact on our sales if on the front page?

Is your site primarily e-commerce focused? You sell products yourself?

If your site is for selling your product, you don't want to drag people off to somewhere else ideally, perhaps at the end of the checkout process or in email order notifications at the end? No spam of course and in line with notifications your customers would normally expect to receive.

Linking to 'adult'? Depends if that compliments your content and what your customers would expect to see. Also, you have to be quite cautious with those types of links, depending on their content and how safe those links are. You don't want to send customers to 3rd party links that have a negative impact on your customers experience. They will assume you are connected to the other website in some way.

Affiliates often give you a link with a tracking code and then any sales made with it give you commission.

    Depends what you sell.
