Hi,

This is my first post so I hope it's in the right place.

I've had a website built, which I plan to use as a fashion marketplace with affiliate products.

My question is, will affiliate networks accept me if I don't have any products or traffic to start with?

Thank you

The networks will accept you if you have some sort of site, but some merchants in the networks are fussy about the site existing, some don't care. ( As they can't see what traffic you have they don't care about traffic, but they can guess )

Personally my sites have been rejected after applying to M&S, Topman & John Lewis, so if you want to be an affiliate for top brands, you better have a nice relevant site. However, minor brands accept my sites without question.

You will easily get into the networks but unlikely to be accepted by any big retailer if your site is new and not generating traffic. You need to demonstrate how you can bring value to the retailer and not damage their brand.

The most important thing is to get a decent site running maybe as a fashion blog to get traffic, build up an audience.. then go after the big retailers.

You could also try Digidip.. they are a middle man affiliate network, instead of going directly to the retailer you would create affiliate links through Digidip who already have the retailers.. the retailer will never really know who you are.. the retailer just sees Digidip and you are paid by them.. obviously they take a cut.
