Advice on importing from the US

Hi

I'm looking into importing a relatively low volume of items from the US. They will primarily be printed papers and rubber stamps.

I'm trying to work the cheapest way of doing it and if the cost of sending 2 or more parcels (to stay under the £135 duty limit) is cheaper than paying the duty and other costs.

I just can't get my head around all that is involved and the fact that the beginner guide on the HMRC is 68 pages long concerns me!

Thanx

Thanks Deniser

Do they deal with all the customs malarkey too?

cheers

If you get it sent by USPS then the customs stuff is dealt with by Parcelforce at this end. They will send you a letter detailing the charges. VAT if applicable, import duty and a handling charge of between £8 and £13 depending on whether you use the express or priority service when posting.

You pay online with a card and they then deliver the next day.
