Hi everyone - hope you can help!
I want to promote my products as a gift idea, as I think the smallest baby wetsuits are suitable as a gift for either a newborn or a 1 year old birthday present.
In order to do this effectively, I want ot have a gift wrap/card choice option to accompany the gift, so it can be posted, already wrapped, directly to the recipient if required.
But what is the best way to incorporate this into my site? I have had a look around at some other sites which offer a similar service, and it seems that most of them require the customer to email with gift wrapping choices, card messages etc. I do not like this - I want to have it all embedded into my site so that people know exactly what they are going to get - and there must be a way to do this neatly!
So, creating a scenario: in my shopping basket I have 2 baby wetsuits (let's assume they are for twins, a boy and a girl, and therefore different colours) and 2 cards and gift wrap (again in different colours) .
Should I somehow attach the gift wrap to the wetsuit concerned in the shopping basket, e.g. if they add a gift wrap product to the basket, a drop down list appears with all of the products in the shopping basket and the customer chooses the product associated with that gift wrap? But then I have the problem of what happens to the gift wrap product if they change their order and remove the wetsuit product that was to be wrapped....
Or would it simply be good enough to have a text box somewhere on the shopping basket into which they can type which product to wrap? But then this become messy again.
Or do you think you would not be bothered by which wrapping paper was used to wrap up your gift, so long as it was stated that it would be "suitable" for your recipient? But it wouldn't be themed then - i.e. not birthday paper or newborn paper, probably just plain or with a simple pattern.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
Thanks,
Catherine
