“Consumer credit” type protection on commercial credit cards ?

Are there any commercial credit cards (preferably via Barclays) that would provide something similar to the protection provided to a consumer under the consumer credit act ?

I doubt it.. Business transactions aren't covered under consumer law so won't have the same level of protection. I can't see a credit card company wanting to offer this level of protection if they don't have to.

I used to use my personal barclaycard for business expenses. A couple of times I disputed transactions and was refunded without question. I wasn't asked if it was a business transaction or not.

As Alison says, if you have a business Barclaycard it's not the same.
