Company van registration - personal name or limited company?

    Hi all,

    I am looking to purchase a van for my business (Limited Company) and i am unsure if I should register the vehicle in my personal name (sole director) or the conpany name. The vehhicle will be financed and the price will be plus vat (company is vat registered). The van will only be used for business.

    I have looked online to see what others do and they usually state the same thing "the registered owner is not the legal owner"...great, i get that but what are the pros and cons of registering in my name as apposed to the Limited company and vice versa.

    It would be good to hear from any directors on here who purchased a van through their Limited company, are the only driver of the van and solely use the van for business and find out how they registered the log book.

    I have only witnessed vehicles being brought by the director where they are expecting to scupper the company.
    In my view it would be advantageous to purchase it through the company as I am guessing that you planning to reclaim the vat through the company

    Morning Jeremy, thank you for your reply.

    From what I understand the VAT can still be reclaimed regardless of who the van is registered too as long as the invoice is made out to the company. Thats why the information online states the registered keeper is not necessarily the legal owner. Registered owner should be the person who will be driving the van, in which case me. I maybe mistaken with my above comments but this was my understanding.

    I don't get this I have lease vans here I don't even really know who owns what:)
    It is very rare that the registered owner drives a van especially here
