QuickBooks overpayed salary employee

Hi,

A new person joined my team on the 16th of Sept. Salaried. I ran payroll and was so busy sorting other issues out with hours I didn't notice that it has paid the employee their full month's salary.

How would I work out a manual deduction next month? I thought about gross/30*14 days or is is net/30*14 days.

    Did your new employee realize? I know this sounds odd but some people just glance over their paycheck not really taking in the number at the bottom. It might be worth pulling them to one side to highlight your error and just say seeing as I paid you the full amount last month, for the month of October I am going to pay you X amount. Alex

    Just pay her next month what you should have paid her this month. Which is half a month's gross salary. I don't know where you get 14 from. She worked 16 - 30 September, which is 15 days. She didn't work 1 - 15 September, which is also 15 days.
