Sole Trader: Desk Expense

Hi there,
I have a full time job and work as a sole trader one day per week.
I work in the field of IT and although I do do site visits, I also spend quite some time at home doing work remotely.
I don't claim for heating or power, but I was wondering if I would be able to claim for a new desk.
I have seen one online for just under £500 which is also height adjustable. This is perfect for me as I have a lot of back and posture issues. All of my equipment computers etc is already paid for (I never claimed for it).

Does anyone know if this is something I could claim for as an expense for my self employment? I would be using it just for when I am working remotely.

I would welcome any suggestions or input.

Many thanks and Happy Easter!

Yes, a desk for business use is an allowable expense.

Do make sure you claim all allowable expenses. If you are looking after your own tax affairs you may find this helpful https://www.gov.uk/expenses-if-youre-self-employed

Thank you everyone for the clarification. That is very good to know.
Does anyone know where I would list this in my tax return and profit and loss account?
The biggest expense I ever claimed for was a mobile phone which was slightly more than the desk.

I think at the time, I listed it as Capital Expense on my profit and loss. Would I do similar? Obviously, this is something I would keep for quite some time, so would not be replacing it every few years with a newer model.
