Hi All,

We are group of people who are looking to import food products from outside eu for personal use.

By bulk buying and shipping, we are hoping to save on costs. The food items are approved items and come under this list.
Produce with a certificate of conformity issued in the country of origin.

We have identified the vendor in the country of origin who is already sending goods to UK and has approved status.

However, we are not sure about the process in the UK? Will we have to register a business to do the import or otherwise what documentation we need to get clearance from customs etc.
I have heard about systems like PEACH and CHIEF but not sure if we have to comply with them.

Understand it’s not strictly a business advice we are looking for but an any help is appreciated.

Thanks
G

Hi Gari,

You should not have problems with most foodstuffs. The ones I would recommend avoiding is anything containing products of animal origin and any 'fresh' products - Both of these require extra documentation & cost.

Good luck!

Hi Darren,

Many thanks for the reply. I saw that you represent global freight forwarder. Am I right in thinking that your organisation can help us with the custom clearance and give us advice on what paper work we will need ( e.g EORI ).

Can I PM you ?

Thanks
G
