Am I right in thinking that Working Tax Credit is worked out on last year's income ?
If so this will be my salaried job and wont therefore be eligible. Seems a bit silly as it's now that I need the help, not in a year's time, so a bit confused ??
Yes I think I have got the footfall wrong !
Not sure on the numbers but it aint busy !
Am starting to introduce new ideas from next week. Picked up a soup kettle and going to make a larger batch of tomato soup and then going to also do a chilli con carne on market days. Hopefully they will...
I have got it on the market privately (facebook etc) currently for just over what I paid for it as I have bought some new equipment and stock. Trouble is that people know I have only just bought it and probably guess why I am now trying to sell it.
Other traders are saying Jan is always a bad...
A lot of the greasy spoon type do have their regular customers, mostly over the age of 65. Some seem very busy whilst others do only have a trickle of customers, maybe 3 or 4 at any one time
I am beginning to think this is what I need to do but am wondering if I should put the last £1k into it and give it say 3-6 months but looking for a job at same time.
It does break my heart thought if I do literally give the keys to the market manager and walk away, cause I am effectively...
There are about 6 cafés in the indoor market.
Most of them are greasy spoon type doing typical all day breakfasts or faggots and peas, which is why the previous on converted mine into more of a coffee stall with snacks, but doesn't look like that is what the clientele of the indoor market want
The main people that go into the market are the elderly and sometimes mothers with toddlers in prams to go to the baby shop opposite.
Footfall to the indoor market in general is very low. Maybe only about 60-70 people per day
Hi Guys
Feeling a bit unsure this morning as have had two days this week with a gross profit of less than £10 for the whole day and yes that is before I even take off the cost of the coffee etc.
I simply cant go on like this !
I have done a lot of research and that is telling me that I will...
Hi
Thanks for this suggestion. Will have to do some research as not totally sure which machines you are meaning or about the compatible pods.
Do you think I would be as well to keep the "broken" espresso machine in place, as does it give the illusion of quality when someone walks by ?
Am also...
Hi
It's a little coffee stall in an indoor market in South Wales
Currently charge £1.10 for small instant coffee and £1.25 for a small "milky", cappuccino or latte (but still using instant coffee base)
Not sure prices can go up much hence my dilemma !
Some good ideas guys !
Got a couple of friends who are self employed themselves coming down over the next couple of days to have a look and see where to go from here though.
General consensus though is not to spend too much more investment. People are saying that a stall in a market will not...
I am starting to think I should set myself a spend limit and a time limit. Maybe £2k and 3-6 months. Least then I will feel i have given it my best effort.
If anyone does actually run a coffee shop please do get in touch
Hi guys.
Sorry for late reply but just returned (22:30) from my other job. Yes two jobs, but only till Sunday.
I truly don't want to give up but am finding it hard when I am going home with a gross profit of £2.13 which I did actually do one day this week.
I will certainly digest some of...
The honest answer is that I can't afford to lose £4K but at same time don't really want to be putting another £2-£3k into it if it not going to help.
I have put it back on the market to see what interest I get.
Am giving that until end of Jan and then take it from there.
Yes had considered...
Hi guys
Sorry haven't replied in a while but being trying to save the business although must say this week has been awful.
Yes I could do hot food but would have to install some kind of extraction system if I were to go down that route.
Not totally against in putting more investment into the...
