Stolen Debit Card - £1800 Spent - What Happens?

You are absolutely right the Police could not care less about credit card fraud. Looking at it from a responsible retailers point of view, a retailer I knew contacted the Police because a stolen card had been used on his premises. They have CCTV in the street outside so you think it would be...

How is your bank treating you?

I seem to be getting one or two complaints about Nat West from the businesses I visit. The main complaint is regarding overdraft facilities. Some of these businesses have had overdrafts for up to 20 years with no payment defaults yet the caring Nat West are either recalling the overdrafts and...

New Shop - merchant status harder than I expected.

The deal from Barclays doesnt seem that bad. If you dont do many transactions then the odd .5% or pennies per transaction isnt going to make that much difference. The advantage of Barclays is that you bank with them already which means the money should be in your account quicker than if you...

Can I move a static / fixed credit card terminal between premises and phone lines?

If you are new to taking cards your rates will normally be significantly higher than if you were switching providers. Turnover has nothing to do with it in most cases. Each card company will have a lowest rate they can go to irrespective of turnover. If your transactions are mostly over the...

Can I move a static / fixed credit card terminal between premises and phone lines?

Hi Stephenc The bank are trying to pull a fast one on you. Does this mean whenever you have a powercut your data will be lost? I dont think so. If all your premises have a BT phone line then a fixed line terminal will be fine. You also have the option to send the data to the bank at any...

Have you thought about going to The PCI Security Standards Council website, finding out which SAQ (Self Assessment Questionnaire) is applicable to your business, filling it in and sending it to your merchant provider? It is completely free. I wonder why your bank didnt tell you this :|

New Shop - merchant status harder than I expected.

Do cardsave charge a termination fee after the 12 months? My experience with cardsave is they usually charge £120 to leave them. Which is not that high compared to others.

New Shop - merchant status harder than I expected.

All banks will assess risk in different ways, the main thing which might go against you is if you have any ccj's. Even then you may still get a card facility with restrictions. (Non refundable deposit or delay in payment to your account.) What type of shop are you wanting to open?

    Customer Service v Price

Some great comments on this thread, I would just like to add : Make sure if you are buying on price alone you are getting the same product. For example B&Q are selling a top brand lawn mower from a British manufacturer which gives the impression you are buying British when infact it is...

    Customer Service v Price

I would completely agree with you John the way forward especially in the service industry is "look after your customer" and they will look after you. I remember a friend of mine who wanted to set up as a joiner. My advice was to go for premium pricing and premium cutomer service, he thought I...
