    With Joomla I've always preferred the legacy version, because I found that sometimes upgrading a live site can sometimes end with something not working (often really with mods and stuff). But for creating brand new sites, I give the option of versions. After informing them if need be.

    NDA's can be a bit difficult to enforce, unless you make sure they are worded correctly and tightly. And often times, the act of having them sign an NDA will deter them from trying to back out of things etc

    If you don't know how to do it, it would not serve you very well to pick up books and attempt it yourself. You'll spend twice as long just trying to fix it and probably more money. With sites like elance, Digital Point, Freelancers etc you can find reputable and highly qualified developers...
