    Debt Collection - Small Debt

^^^^ Indeed. Take yourself and the wife there for a nice meal and a bottle of wine and when the bill is presented say "I have a £40 off voucher" and give them the invoice. :)

What would you do with a tax dodging scumbag?

Sell the debt to one of his customers for a nominal amount. They can knock the value off whatever they owe him and pay him the remainder. There's bound to be at least one of his customers who is in financial difficulty and would jump at the chance to offset some of their liabilities.

Interview tips. Hotel and Restaurant Iinspector

Ask them what sort of person they are looking for in the position, the interviewer will then relate his company and even personal criteria of the type of person they seek, then tick them off as you go through the interview. The interviewer has to be consistent with his own criteria and will...

Cold Calling to get appointment...how to qualify prospect?

The more questions they ask you about your product or service the more interested they are. If you consider each question asked as a 10% chance of closing you won't go far wrong.

My clauses against "rolling" contract clauses

Although I'm not sure about the exact protocol on this I do know of a firm who photoshopped a rolling clause out of a service contract then signed and returned it. The supplier never noticed because it was in the small print and accepted the contract back without query. Not sure what happened...

    Marketing strategy Help

So the interest is there but it's not being converted in orders. You need to find out why so you can rectify the problem and the simplest way is to ASK. The lady you employ for cold calling, tell her to contact the customers, tell them she's new and wants to make an impression with her boss...

Could I have some advice please?

It would have to be phrased very carefully and at no point actually state the firm is having difficulties. A simple "I'm having difficulty having an invoice of mine paid from XYZ company, have you encountered any problems yourself in the last (state a very precise number of days such as say 11)...

Could I have some advice please?

Good idea. Considering how your husband has been treated he could spice things up a bit by giving the firm 24 hours notice to pay otherwise he "will be led to believe that his non payment of monies due could in part to the best of his knowledge be indicative of the firm suffering financial...

Buyer Wanting To Return An Item We Suspect They Broke.

Contact DHL and see if the buyer signed for the item as "received in good condition" as per DHL's T&C's. If they have then it will strengthen your case.

Why is selling a service which is free harder than selling a product that costs?

If something is free it's usually of little value, if something is expensive it's usually worth having. However there will always be people who will have "owt for nowt" as they say in Yorkshire. These types do not make a good customer base.

    Can I fine an employee?

Alas not everyone is honest, if you expect someone to act honestly and they don't ascribe to your personal code then they will exploit your perceived weakness. A friend of mine who works in the security industry told me this, he's ex CID and deals with this type of thing, albeit for large firms...

    Can I fine an employee?

It would alienate honest staff members if you start docking wages, they might decide to "undock" them from the till by removing money themselves on the ethical grounds that it's their money they're taking back. Your best bet is to ask each employee individually if they know anything about it...

    Define 'professionalism'

A professional will undertake a task which they are trained for and do it correctly even if no one would ever know if they decided to cut corners. Professionalism is part of your identity and your integrity towards yourself.

    Why don't businesses 'get' marketing?

When I first started to learn marketing back in the day out trainer used to say that a business which doesn't market is like a guy who goes to a nightclub then stands in the corner expecting the attractive girls to come up to him and ask if he wants to sleep with them. I might work if you're the...
