Very interesting!! I just wonder what it has taken to drive customers to you over your competitors when you charge a higher price? What would you say you do differently?
I guess this is the beauty of running a business and the sort of decisions you have to make that are key to success.
Thanks for your advice, yes looking for a low price initially. I’m relatively inexperienced in this so I’m expecting a few lessons to be learned along the way.
I’ll do some comparisons and see what comes out more favourable but seems like Royal Mail may be most likely.
As you’ll no doubt know, eBay is a very competitive market so worried that I won’t get sales through if I can’t compete which is what is driving the margins down! No doubt my competitors are ordering in larger volume than I can initially so they’re able to offer those prices.
Thanks for the...
Do you have any ideas about the costs? Of course I'll look it up but wondered if you knew off the top of your head?
Some of the items I'm looking at selling have a really small margin and postage cost seems to be the largest factor eating into that!
I'm looking to set up a new business mainly selling via eBay initially with the hope to sell via independent website in the future.
I know that eBay offer delivery services via PackLink but have not used this before and wondered if there were any clear suggestions that anyone here has as to...
It is legally allowed if you are a sole trader - it may cause some confusion amongst customers though so might be worth using a variation as suggested to avoid confusion and make it clear you are a separate entity.
If you are going to be self employed you can trade under the same name - if you are going to register as a limited company you can trade under a variation of the name.
There are hundreds of self employed people trading under the same names across the country
When you say belonging to you? Do you mean that you are renting it - and therefore subject to an agreement between you and the previous landlord which he must have broken in allowing the property to be bought out with a current tenancy in place?
Have you got the contract and do you know it...
I wasn't saying that all alarm and CCTV installations are the same, I'm well aware of the differences in requirements for different people. Different packages cover these requirements though, Analog/IP - Motion sensitive? - How many cameras needed to cover ? etc...
So how about scrapping the...
Ok, so to start I have to apologise for any questions I've missed - I was away on holiday when posting this and only had an old smart phone that was extremely clunky to use which was more effort than it was worth when trying to reply to all of these points. So... I'll be completely honest and...
I think we are all aware that no matter what you say on this forum, there will always be the odd weightless negative comment. In my opinion, the whole f%#ng point in these forums is to run thoughts by people so they can support/argue against them and save people headache or (heaven forbid) point...
Why is it incorrect? I understand margins aren't great on CCTV bought directly from uk distributors but I am looking at stocking other products with much higher margins, there are products that can be bought directly from manufacturer.
Why ?
In that case we would only be liable for products...
